Streaming Video

The Internet provides users many ways to access video files online. The traditional method involves downloading a video file just like a user would with a regular document or a picture file. The user must wait for the download to finish, then open and view the video. Streaming videos, however, let users view a video as it is being downloaded from the Internet.

Streaming video technology is useful for real-time and on-demand requests. A common use for streaming video is for broadcasting news over the Internet. Some of the bigger news networks even provide live news video streaming on their websites. Another common use for streaming videos is for viewing movie clips. Many movie studios provide previews or trailers of their upcoming film features through streaming video clips. Also from the entertainment business, music labels use this technology to stream music videos for the public.

With the sudden emergence of portable web-cameras, one of the growing uses for streaming videos is for video conferencing. Computer chat programs often come with video conferencing functions that let chatters see the person they are chatting with. This feature not only allows Internet users to hear the voices of their friends or relatives, but it also lets them see each other in real time. Similarly, entrepreneurs use this function to conduct business meetings, conferences, or even corporate training over the Internet.

Streaming videos are also used in the field of education. Live or pre-recorded lectures are available from many university and educational websites. This allows students to view and listen to lectures over and over again.

There are a lot of other uses for streaming videos. Some websites provide real-time views of main roads. This service is particularly helpful to motorists who want to avoid vehicular traffic.

For all the advantages of streaming videos, there are also limitations and disadvantages. For videos to be delivered quickly to a user’s desktop for viewing, two things have to be considered: the size of the video and the Internet bandwidth available to the user. Compressing videos can normally sacrifice their quality, and a small bandwidth normally results in choppy video playback. Another drawback to the availability of streaming videos is the increase in network or Internet traffic.

Wally Byam Airstream Caravan Club

When it comes to having that adventurous spirit in you to travel the roads by recreational vehicle, you either have it or you do not. Traveling in such way is not meant for everyone, it is something that one most like, enjoy and appreciate in order to have a great time. The concept of living life to the fullest is not a new concept. Lets not forget the Airstream trailer has been part of the American dream vacation since the early 1930′s.

During the beginning of the Airstream trailer times, recreational vehicles were often used only for two weeks in the summer, this was because the kids were our of school and dad would be able to cash in on his two week vacations. Another way it was used was when an RV was purchased when a couple met retirement age. However, just like everything else time has changed. We no longer see RV’s only being available for two weeks out of the year or having to wait till were sixty years old to use it.

Once on the road traveling by RV it is like if you are bitten by this RV travel bug, we are usually forever thankful that they got to experience and see for themselves what is out there. This always results in, some travelers making a permanent switch from their normal daily routines, to perhaps a weekend or week a year, some even turn it into a weekend a month or even a few months out of the year.

Fortunately, just like there are car clubs, there are ways to find other people out there like yourself, RV resort clubs. One of the most well known clubs out there is the Wally Byam Caravan Club, WBCC. This club is specially dedicated and for anyone who owns a trailer or motor home made by Airstream. Wally Byam was the wonderful creator of the American Airstream, in which today we enjoy to travel so much in. Through this wonderful club, Airstream owners will find all the information they seek about organized trips, or better known as Caravans. There are many benefits that come along with being part of the club, when taking part in a caravan, they offer discounts and trips usually tend to be less expensive than if you would take the journey solo.

Another great organization for owners is the Vintage Airstream Club, VAC. The VAC recognizes those who have put their own sweat and hard work into vintage airstream (must be twenty five years or older models), as well as those who just simply admire the vintage look. VAC members are able to participate in parades or rallies, taking place around the United States. The VAC is one of the few clubs that does not require actual ownership of an Airstream to join.

We should all think about one thing, perhaps we should take some time to thank the Airstream for changing the way we enjoy life. Anyone on the road today will mention their bond with their travel partners, their new friends, and wonderful memories, and not to forget they get to experience all this and more without even leaving their couch.

What Should I Consider Before Buying a Vintage Travel Trailer?

Vintage isn’t considered just a fad anymore; it’s actually for people who enjoy nostalgia and that feeling that they get from something in the past. Vintage items will be collected and admired forever, and while it’s true that as people age, the things they collect will change, vintage travel trailers are something that will never go out of style. These trailers are a combination of two of America’s favorite pastimes, camping and vintage collecting, and they turn heads no matter where you go.

If you are in the market for one of these admirable trailers, there are sites and publications that you can visit online to begin your research, but the best place to start would be to visit a trailer rally. Where else can you look inside a 1963 Airstream Safari or a 1951 Vagabond? It’s important to keep in mind that some vintage trailers lack many of the modern conveniences that we have become accustomed to, and a rally would be a good place to meet and talk to owners. One of the most important questions to ask yourself is, can I live without a bathroom? Many vintage travel trailers do not come with one.

It’s also important not to buy the first trailer that you see, take the time to look at many different makes and models before you decide. I was lucky, the trailer that I found and fell in love with just happened to be in great shape, but that’s not always the case. Keep in mind that there is no shortage of classic trailers to choose from, from Fleetwood to Keystone, you’re sure to find a style that suits your personality and brings back fond childhood memories. Vintage trailers are remarkably inexpensive to maintain, and unlike the newer versions, they increase in value over time rather than decrease. And let’s face it, a vintage trailer looks great being towed behind a classic car or truck.

One of the main reasons that many people opt to buy vintage trailers is the fun and excitement that comes from restoring them. The prospect of finding and saving one of these ageless trailers and restoring them to their former glory is both alluring and romantic. Remember, though, that if you are inexperienced in the restoration scene, get some well-founded, professional advice before you embark on any large-scale project.
